Vietnam: It Needs Certificate to Importing Glass(2009/7/22)

The importer of building glass should offer the certificate of quality to the customs department. Only the glass in keep with the technique standard of domestic building department can be imported into the market of Vietnam.

Pham Van Bsc, the deputy director of Vietnam Building Inspections, said, in the past, the glass products do not pass the No.11/2009/TT-BXD were considered as hazardous article.

The certificate is issued by the Inspection Center of Construction Materials belongs to the Building Materials Research Institute. This item will prevent the unqualified glass products inflowing to Vietnam, said Bac.

Le Minh Tuan, the general manager of Viglacera, said, because of the lax control on glass import, it makes the quantity of sales decline. Thus, these technological barriers are very necessary under this condition.

Tuan said, technological barriers are helpful for preventing from importing glass in illegal way, and protecting the right of consumers. Also, it guarantee the safety of project, and increase the production of glass.

The glass importer usually declare untrue price and product variety to the customs to reduce the duty, then sell the goods in a low price to beat the domestic producer. Tuan complemented, it is unhealthy competition, damages the right of the domestic producer. So, this new item it is very necessary to control the quality of importing glass products strictly. This technological barrier is also accordant with the other countries in a long term.
