Nearly two-thirds of glass packages have been recycled in EU countries(2010/1/6)
In 2009, 65% of glass packaging are collected for recycling in the European Union, which shows steady growth in its recovery. The European Glass Container Association of FEVE released on Tuesday that, there are total of 25.5 billion glass bottles and glass jars were recycled.
According to reports of trade association, the recovery rates of Belgium and Switzerland are close to 100%. A number of European countries had reached the waste packaging compliance instructions of European Association; each rate is more than 60%.
FEVE said that, among the 15 EU countries, there is a clear relevant agreement between the use and waste generation. In the past 10 years, the use of glass packaging is increased by 8%, while at the same time, the quantity of glass waste which is used in other diversion as well as thrown into the garbage has been decreased by 26%.
